Key Retreat Processes

The following twelve processes are part of facilitating a complete retreat cycle. Each of these are covered in the training for group facilitators.

  • Forming group life: creating community around sessions, meals, and informal social times
  • Developing and maintaining the group covenant
  • Engaging in creative group worship, prayer and communion
  • Giving time for personal spiritual formation and encounter with God
  • Sharing and reflecting on life-stories
  • Ministering through times of affirmation
  • Ministering through prayer, intercession and spiritual gifts of the group
  • Developing and maintaining personal and group accountabilities
  • Facilitating leadership development workshops
  • Providing for theological reflection on life and ministry
  • Walking through the process of group multiplication
  • Closing well and bringing to resolution the life of the group
