Overview of Renewal Retreats

The Renewal Retreat model is based on a three phase cycle spread over three years.

Formation Phase

The cycle begins with a ‘formation’ phase centred on the first retreat and its preparation. In the first residential retreat a new group is shaped around setting of a covenant for the group’s life together and the sharing of the life stories of group members.

Renewal Phase

The second phase which is focused on ‘renewal’ begins at the
end of the first retreat and includes the processes of support, accountability and growth that the group puts into place to minister to its members. This phase, which is the body of the whole process, includes catch-up times before and after the second residential retreat.

Completion Phase

The final phase retreat is the ‘completion’ for the group as a whole. It forms a conclusion for any who choose not to continue and usually marks the division of the remaining members into the two core groups who will begin two new cycles with others.
